Winter Olympics Pack and FREEBIES

I just posted a Winter Olympics Read, Build and Write pack to my TPT and TN stores. You can click on the store buttons in my sidebar.

Here are a couple of FREEBIES that I created that you could use with this pack!

The first is a syllable recording sheet. Your students can use the vocabulary cards to copy the word, clap it, and count it!

You can have your students choose which Olympic sport is their favorite and have them write about it!

DJI Frustration and a FREEBIE!

Ok, I am sure that you have seen all of the back and forth of "can we use DJI or can we not?!" Well, they have rec'd lots of calls and emails from teachers! Long story short...they have changed their TOU AGAIN! It is still a tad bit confusing, but after a discussion with them via their facebook fan page, I have decided that I will continue to use DJI to produce FREEBIES for you. My only wish is that they would have decided this a few days ago BEFORE I deleted all of the FREEBIES that I had already shared. I will try to get them back up for you...not sure when though. I luckily did not delete them from my scribd account. I can not for the life of me figure out Google Docs. If anyone knows of a good Google Doc tutorial, then please share.

Anywho, here is my first FREEBIE! It is what I use in my Write the Room Station. The kids go around and find words that begin with the letter on the left. I like to expose my kids to all kinds of different fonts!

Removing freebies that contain DJ Inkers

I am so sorry! However, today I learned that DJ Inkers has changed their terms of use. You are no longer allowed to share documents that contain DJI clip art or font on your blog or site. My understanding was that it was alright as long as it was in PDF format and you were not profiting from it. That is no longer the case. You can post a picture of what you create, but not allowed to share the final product. I am so disappointed! I have purchased so much from DJI. I don't think that they realize how much business they will lose by this change. So, I wanted to give you a heads up...those freebies will be gone in the next day or so. I will try to recreate with some other clip art, but this was not on my to do list over the break. It may have to wait. Again, I am so sorry for the inconvenience!

New Year's Resolutions Linky Party

I can't believe that 2011 is coming to an end. I have so much to be thankful for. 2011 is the year that I began blogging. I have met so many new teacher blogging buddies! You all continue to inspire me every day. I recently sat down to make some blogging goals for myself...thank you Charity Preston! :-) The one thing that I am learning is when setting goals for myself is that it needs to be what I can control.

I am sitting with my new Erin Condren planner and writing out my goals. So, I thought maybe you all were doing the same and thought it would be fun to share our New Year's resolutions with the blogging world! Please link up!!

Here are my resolutions:

5. Research and find a place that my family can volunteer our time...TOGETHER!

Literacy Work Station Management

I just finished my Literacy Work Stations Management Packet...thanks to Denyse at Scrappin Doodles! Do you ever feel like you are doing 10 things sort of ok in your classroom? Well, that is the kind of year that I am having. Well, I have decided to focus on just a couple of things and doing them WELL! Once I get those established, then I will move on to something else. The two things that I have decided to focus on our my Literacy Work Stations and my Math Work Stations. Yep, I know...2 really big things! However, I feel like these are the best ways for my Kinders to practice the skills that we are learning each day. I thought the best way to do this was to just start over (nope, I am really not crazy!) My problem was that I had too many "specific" centers. I had purchased some management systems from teacher supply stores. I was trying to make the things that I had fit into those stations. When in reality, most of the things that I was making fit...would and COULD go into other stations. I was having a hard time keeping up.

My first step was to contact Denyse at Scrappin Doodles. She already had some super cute writing and reading kids graphics. I am sure that some of you share my OCDness when it comes to clip art. I just can't mix. It is silly...I KNOW! I JUST CAN'T DO IT! So, I asked her to create some specific graphics for me...and SHE DID! Not only did she create a centers set for me, but I contacted her as soon as she posted it and asked her for one more specific one. She personally emailed it to me within hours! THANK YOU DENYSE! You can click on the button in the right side bar, to go directly to the Scrappin Doodles site.

I reread "Literacy Work Stations, Making Centers Work," by Debbie Diller. It was what I needed to get reenergized! I highly suggest reading it, if you haven't already! I started moving my room (nope, STILL not crazy) and getting things ready. When we come back from Winter break, we will be ready to start LWS again and this time do it right!

Anyway, I hope you will follow me on my LWS and MS journey! You can see my packet here

Merry Christmas, Splat!

I am Splat's newest fan! A cat with a pet mouse?! How cute is that!!?? Our Media Specialist read this story to my kids today. It ends with Splat getting a present. He opens it and says, "It's the best Christmas present ever!" However, it doesn't show what the present is. CLICK! That was my little idea light bulb going off in my head :-) So, I created this FREEBIE! We talked about what we thought might be the present ever and then we talked about what Splat might think is the best present ever! You could have them complete this from either point of view. One form I left out the high frequency words that my kiddos should know by now. The other I filled them in.....just in case you needed a little more!
