Name Tags

How many of you use those self adhesive name tags for the first week? I did too! I finally figured out to laminate them, hole punch them and then string yarn around them. THERE...problem solved. WRONG! Well, unless my little Kinders to almost hang themselves on the playground with those name tags...I needed to find another solution to my problem.

I loved those cutesy name tags. I wasn't quite ready to give them up yet. One of my teammates had a great idea....can't really say where it came from...but we used it! We still used those cutesy name tags, laminated them and this time put them in badge holders!! You can get these from Wal Mart, Target, or an office supply store!

You also need the clips!!
Now, if you buy the name tags from a school supply store/catalog....leave them on the backing and laminate! You can write their names on AFTER with a sharpie. They fit perfectly in these name badges!

I use these the entire first week and maybe longer! I may have to replace a couple (due to the chocolate milk puddle that was INSIDE the name badge lol) Oh...I almost forgot...important tip: Make sure the opening, where you slide the name tag in, is in the BACK! It saves a few. You will probably still have to replace 1 or 2, but much better than trying write out new ones each day.

Of course, I had to make some that matched my color scheme! You can click on the title page to download your FREE copy!!

  3. I used these let year for the first time and love them.. Plus having the kids clip them on helps them with fine motor skill practice.

QUESTION_ after you laminated, how did you get them off the sheet? Or did you just cut them out?

  4. These hold up nice. Another hint to keep them lasting longer...put a piece of electrical tape across the opening in the back. It works great because it cuts out the temptation of little fingers (and other things) from going into the opening! Happy Summer, love your blog!

  7. That's a great idea. I used to use the necklaces too, but also worried about the safety!! And the kids played with them a lot, so not ideal. Your suggestions looks like a great solution. Renee

  8. I used the business card holders and they lasted all year. they were amazing. I found mine at the Dollar Tree. 10 in a pack for a BUCK!! The clips you have to get at an office supply store but they are not that expensive. Great idea. I love your blog!! Thanks for all the great ideas.

  9. I use these and they are awesome! We are a uniform school and they hang perfectly off the shirt collars. We use them for specials teachers the first couple weeks then anytime there its a guest teacher. For field trips we don't do name tags due to safety issues, but I print self stick address labels with the school name, school phone, my name with "teacher" and cell number then put them on the kids' backs so they don't play with them. At the end of the day line up I tell the kids to peel off and throw away the sticker on the person in front of them.

  16. Aren't those name tags the greatest? I've been using them for 5 years now and only have had to buy a few replacement holders/clips every couple of years. Ours have lasted all year & we wear them everyday for our special area class.
I love the polka dot theme! Thank you for sharing! :)

  18. I love the name tags, thanks so much for sharing. I have kind of a silly question...do the kids just wear the name tags with the badges while they are AT school? I assume that they DO NOT take these home right? Also, do you gave them a different tag at the end of the day that they can take home like for the bus #, carline, etc? How does that work for you? Do you put their lunch # on their name tag that is in the badge holder? And last, will these labels print on any Avery or office depot brand labels or business cards, or do you just print yours on card stock then cut? Thank you in advance for answering these questions.

  20. I have been doing this with my preschool children for years for the beginning of the year and for subs. I found that the yarn method didn't work well, so tried "teacher badges." Thanks for the dots name tags. It is perfect for my theme this year! I have the children take their tags off before dismissal and put them in the AM basket or PM basket. I also make two sets in case a few make it home and never make it back to school.
